Research projects are available to undergraduate students with backgrounds in biology, biochemistry, cell biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, pharmacology, statistics/medical statistics

WEDNESDAY WEEK 2!!! It’s the first night out of the term and we are planning to make it a big one. We’ve been hunting down the biggest and the badest Super Heroes and Villains over the holidays…but they were all busy so we’re going to dress up as them instead.
You can dress up as any hero or villain you like (they can even be made up). For once it is acceptable to wear underwear on top of your clothes and run around with a cape pretending you can fly (although health and safety does suggest no running or attempting to fly when drinking alcohol).
MEET AT BOWLAND BAR AT 8PM, County bar at 9pm (if you are stuck helping the poor citizens of Lancaster).

So term 2 is about to start, time to finish any left over Christmas chocolates pack your bags and prepare for another 10 weeks at Lancaster. I hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year. This term MASS have a few things planned for you to enjoy.
Monday Week 1: Maths Cafe/ Quiz. That’s right Adam and Alex are writing another one of their quizes (you have been warned) so get yourselves down to Fylde Common Room 1-3pm.
Mondays 1-3pm Fylde Common Room: FREE BISCUITS! Maths Cafe is back again. Every Monday it’s a chance to work on your assessments and meet other members of the society, come along before we eat all the biscuits 
Wednesday Week 2: SUPER SOCIAL! You know you’re going to have a super night when you’re dressed as your favourite super heroes and villains.
Thursday Week 7: Casino Night. It was a great social when we did it last term so we are giving you a second chance to win the top prize.
Friday Week 9: 70′s/80′s Night. It’s going to a be a blast from the past.
We are also trying to plan a Charity Football Match. Hopefully if enough people are interested we are aiming for a undergrads vs post grads & lecturers. More details to come.
Also we may have a LUSTA social and/or a social with another society. Yet again more details to come.

So it’s Freshers week (I know it’s nearly the end but that’s not important). A massive thank you to all of you who signed up at freshers fair yesterday and we hope you love your pens!!!
If you missed us at freshers fair or didn’t have your purple card or enough money DON’T WORRY! You can still sign up, the best time would be MONDAY at maths cafe which this week is 2-4pm in FYLDE COMMON ROOM. The first maths cafe will be a quiz (because no-one will have any work) so meet other members, team up and you could be in for a chance to win some pretty cool prizes kindly donated by the Maths department.
Hope to see you all there, and again thank you to everyone who signed up. If you want to know we got 136 members sign up but i’m sure there are more of you out there so if you know anyone who didn’t sign up please get them to join, the more the merrier. (also a note to any second and third years: membership only lasts a year so if you haven’t signed up again you will need to if you want to still be a member)

…But that means FRESHERS WEEK!!!! I’m sure everyone is just as excited as me. Plenty of partying and get ready for the new year. It also means freshers fair and that is your chance to register (or re-register) to be a member of MASS! For all you freshers I recomend you join and for all you maths students and current MASS members I advise you to re-join the society as this year is going to be epic! It’s £2 to sign up for the year and you get a free goodie bag (and they are pretty good, I know I’m getting one!) and you get free food when you attend our regular Maths Cafes. Don’t miss out and hopefully I’ll see you at at freshers fair, can’t wait!!!

Hey everyone! Vicki here, just to say congrats to those who have finished exams and for those who still have exams hang on in there, you haven’t got long left. I just thought I should maybe keep everyone up to date so here goes.
The BBQ… *sighs*… sorry guys but the weather was not on our side and it was abit of a failure. The good news is one unlucky social is not going to upset our boys Adam and Alex. We have a couple more socials to end the year and I’m sure next year will be even better.
Maths Cafe is still on every Monday 1pm-3pm in Fylde Common Room. It’s a great place to revise and for you second years currently doing Math390 there is wireless if you need more time to do you lab work or even if you want somewhere to have your group meetings Maths Cafe is open. Also we do have some crisps and biscuits so get there early before they run out!
Our End of Exams! social is coming up Wednesday week 9. Adam and Alex are still sorting the details but as soon as they tell me, I’ll tell you all you need to know.
And last but certainly not least, it’s time for MASS to prove to the rest of LUSTA we are the best society. Who Dares Wins! is LUSTA’s summer social and your chance to win prizes and get loads of offers from The Lounge and Dalton Rooms. Check out the social on facebook or on our calendar. Also free entry and queue jump for Sugarhouse!!! You don’t want to miss out. Saturday week 9.
